5th ANNIVERSARY

BEINREACH MINISTRY WAS LAUNCHED IN SINGAPORE in a most uncertain time during a global pandemic lockdown. Its mission is to reach some people so they would not give up on their faith when their lives fell under the weight of the most synchronised lockdown in history. Forced to isolate, technology made it possible for people to come together in new ways. Across the globe, people sought a different kind of connection: apart yet together. Virtual groups of all kinds sprang up overnight and gained rapid traction; from pilates workouts to wine parties, classrooms, celebrations and movie nights. While conventional thinkers decried this as a fad, realists were quick to wake up to a new normal and recognise that things had changed quickly and irreversibly.

Against this backdrop, the BeInReach community stay connected on our laptops and mobile devices across up to 8 time zones. A handful of us willingly allowed others into our private spaces through our webcams. It was clear that we had the choice to stay stuck in the past or see God moving on with the epoch of change that had arrived.

To be sure, BeInReach Ministry is more than just a Zoom meeting link and a blog web address. Real friendships are formed offline. BeInReach always wants to stay dynamic rather than didactic, and never be stuck in what worked before (and even what seems to be working now). 

However, BeInReach Ministry is constantly at risk of becoming another platform serving content for Christians to consume. Being an online community leaves the ministry vulnerable to a number of misconceptions that run counter to its missional intent. Therefore, it is important for the BeInReach community to understand that:

All of us – across all life stage - are called by God to be sent and seen, not stay safe and silent.

We will proactively respond to the Word of God and not be passive receivers.

We are not a community of comfort-seekers, but committed believers who challenge each other to live fruitful lives.
We will not be content to be laggards both in spiritual growth and technology adoption.
